teaching guitar is different from playing guitar

When people look for the right guitar instructor, they look first at his/her ability to play the instrument well. Unfortunately, most people forget that teaching guitar is a completely different skill set from playing guitar. This skill set must also be sharpened and fine-tuned through dedication and practice.

Teaching guitar has been Adam’s passion since accepting his first guitar instruction position at age 16. His entire career has been spent perfecting not only his ability to play guitar, but also his ability to communicate this knowledge to others.

most music is played with other people

Though the most important part of learning an instrument is always going to be the personal practice of a student, music is rarely an individual activity.  Whether it is in a jazz band, string quartet, or a rock band; most music is played with other people.

To assist this effort, Adam helps to build a community where students can feel comfortable playing music with and for one another.  The goal of this community is to foster students’ development by allowing older students to mentor younger students.  This will inspire new levels of confidence through cooperative efforts and expose students to different techniques and styles of music.
